High-performance or technical race apparel typically utilizes 100% polyester interlock or honeycomb fabrics. These materials are engineered with capillary action to move sweat away from the skin to the fabric’s surface for rapid evaporation during long-distance events.

Both methods deliver excellent results depending on your event’s goals. Screen printing is our most popular and cost-effective option, providing durable, vibrant designs for all types of athletic gear. For elite endurance events, sublimation is a premium upgrade; because the ink dyes the fibers directly, it maintains the fabric’s maximum porosity for high-intensity performance.

It depends on the vibe of your event! Cotton and cotton blends are fan favorites for community 5Ks and fun runs because they offer a soft, familiar feel and a comfortable fit at a great value. They are the perfect “lifestyle” shirt that participants love wearing long after the event. For more intense, long-distance races, performance polyester is the go-to upgrade; its moisture-wicking technology is designed specifically to keep athletes dry and cool during heavy exertion.

A standard “bell curve” distribution is usually 10% Small, 25% Medium, 35% Large, 20% XL, and 10% XXL. However, for “fun runs,” we recommend a slight shift toward larger sizes, whereas “elite” marathons typically see a higher demand for Small and Medium performance fits.

Gender-specific cuts significantly improve participant satisfaction. Women’s cuts feature contoured side-seams and shorter sleeves, providing a professional “pro-fit” look. Providing these options increases the likelihood that runners will wear your branded apparel year-round.

UPF-rated apparel (typically UPF 30 or 50) provides a chemical or weave-based barrier against ultraviolet rays. This is a high-value feature for summer trail races or triathlons, as it offers a safety benefit to the runner beyond simple aesthetics.

For custom-branded apparel, the standard lead time is 2–4 weeks from design approval. However, for fully custom “cut-and-sew” sublimation orders, 6–8 weeks is recommended to ensure quality control and shipping buffers before the event date.

The industry is shifting toward recycled polyester (rPET), made from post-consumer plastic bottles. Combining this with water-based, eco-friendly inks allows race directors to market their event as “Green,” which is a major draw for modern endurance athletes.
